After going across this bridge in a train so many times I finally braved the cold to take a closer look at the Han River. I'm glad that I did, especially before the ice had completely melted. This was taken a couple of weeks ago - I'm pretty sure everything would have melted by now, seeing as it's been pretty warm in the last week or so. You know; 5 degrees, or something like that. Almost balmy!

Seokbulsa Temple
This temple was definitely one of the highlights of Korea for me. After catching a cable car up the mountain and walking for about 2 hours through unmarked bush it was quite an achievement just to find the place (kudos here to Mick, who convinced me that I was going in the opposite direction to where we were supposed to be going). When we finally arrived there was almost nobody there - perhaps because it's so hard to find? The temple is situated right on top of the mountain, so you have a great view. There weren't many buildings - just two or three - but there were these incredible carvings of buddha that had been carved right into the side of the mountain in some cases. Candles and incense had been lit in all the nooks and crannies of the rocks, and there was a real feeling of peace about the place. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Korea - just don't ask me where it is exactly.

Jazz Bar
Not the best picture (and the empty cocktail glass tells its own story), but you get an idea here of the fabulous view that we had from the jazz bar that we discovered at Gwangalli Beach in Busan. This was a perfect end to the perfect day - and also somewhat of a relief after trawling the seedier places in Busan the night before.
Ice Fishing
So.... this is all the rage here for some reason. You're probably wondering what I'm doing, standing over a hole on a frozen river. Well actually no you're not 'cause I told you already in my post title, but I was definitely wondering what the hell I was doing as I stood dangling a fishing line over this hole for 3 freezing hours. It was strangely mesmerizing however, staring at the hole waiting for something to happen. Or maybe that was the hypothermia. The fun part was that for the rest of the day I just played in the snow like a kid - sledding, riding ATV's etc. At the end of the day when I regrouped with the guys I came with a couple of them told me that they'd been there fishing all day. I laughed out loud, and said "Really"? then realized that was a little offensive, so followed it up with "That's great... catch anything?" From the general scowls aimed in my direction I assume no...
